Experience the Joy of Giving

Offer encouragement to families who have opened up their hearts and homes to foster children in the DFW area. This is a unique way to give back to our community by purchasing Thanksgiving groceries for foster families.  Its our way to say thank you and offering our support.  We understand that all of these children will require extra emotional care if they have found their way to the Foster Care system, but what most of us don't realize is that a lot of them have physical, mental, and medical issues that they are bringing with them from very traumatic environments.  Getting to know and adjusting to the many layers of these children can be extremely difficult for even the most qualified homes.  Daily soiled linens and sleepless nights with little ones who can't stop having nightmares,  unexpected seizures that cause injuries and accidental breakage of items around the home, rehoming of pets to adjust to trauma, endless changes to routines and schedules to accommodate doctor's appointments and paperwork... these are just some examples of the hardships these homes are dealing with.  For this holiday of Thanksgiving, if we can take one thing off their To Do List and provide them either with the groceries or a ready-to-eat meal, its our way of saying "Thank you, we acknowledge the effort, time, love, and patience that you are giving as a Foster Family.  We appreciate and support you."

I love that this is a charitable opportunity that can include your whole family.  A family grocery shopping trip for one of these homes is a perfect way to teach our kids about foster family situations and promote gratitude. Delivering the meal together and taking a minute to connect with the Foster Family is another way to model kindness.
